So here is my bike, officially named Nancy for the NC. It was purchased as a very new 2nd hand from Honda Menlyn in 09/2013. ;D Came with the top box which really added the storage space that was already the selling point of the bike for me.
A few mods still to come, one at the time. Will keep updating as I go along.
Think karate kick, now there's a thought, at this stage of life I'm generally kicking most things that are higher than 2mm from the floor. I try not to fall over too much though that's not cool. That is one of my issues with the Integra, the front is too high for a step through. Even lowered I struggle and often kick the bracket or top box, after a long ride it's worse. When the panniers are on I have to stand on the floor board to get on and off. Old and short (5'5") and shrinking. So those nice things like BMW1200GS and VFR's, for that matter most of those type of bikes are way to high for me. The CBF1000FA is the first bike I've had that was low enough to feel comfy on, excluding cruisers. I still have not tried the NC700X so next when I'm at Honda I'll test ride it and see what all you guys enjoy so much. Cool.
Integra and my NanCy share the same seat height, if I recall correctly, according to the Honda specifications, which I felt was too high for a mega scooter/bike anyway. There are lowering kits available for all these bikes but kind of missing the point, personal opinion anyway. The charm of my NanCy can only be explained if you have tried many different types of bike. She is the bike for me for this particular moment and for the purposes intended.
I don't have a top-box as yet, and fasten my laptop bag with a cargo net on the back seat... Looks very funny when I get on and off my bike! And I'm not really short (1.78m)... haha braynp, I'm also very clumsy and fall over the smallest things, so it takes a lot of concentration to not fall over
The top box does make the bike look more "domesticated" but the convenience outweighs the aesthetics, in my opinion. By the way, Rissiepit, I am coming to you next Sat for my next mod ~ Rad guard!
I already do the karate kick thing (sort of) to get on and off the bike, but by times - specially when I get off the bike, my boot touches the rear panel. Hopefully I will not shrink too much, otherwise I might have to consider high heels...... ........love my NCX to bits.
Danie, it's not in the heels it's in the toes, so high heels don't help much, (maybe I need a matching handbag). Some of my bikes it's been tippy toe only one side so don't lean the wrong way or down we go. I'm not sure what your world is like up in the land of gold, Rissie, but here in Durban so many skelms. I used to hate the look of the topbox so just hooked my bag with bungy hooks over the back seat, then one morning in traffic at the red light the dude just walks up unhooks and walks off with my bag into the crowd. Lucky that day I never had the laptop in there, but lost a good calculator, some pens, my spare glasses, puncture kits, spare gloves and my peanut butter sandwiches. Wonder if he ate those sandwiches, he probably felt sorry for me. From then on it's a locked topbox for me. Wet day in Durban so used the bakkie. Be safe.
I agree the top box spoils the look a bit but it is more secure and doesn't affect the handling too much. I used to use textile tail bag for other bikes but it was not as secure against theft and only as steady as the bungee cords...
