Its weird, I will see if I can go to a tyre fitment place this weekend and see what they say. Wonder if the tyre itself might be faulty. I have to replace it now before rainy season starts just hope its nothing serious causing the problem. I will post a pic later its bad.
@ ryc - Yes I travel the same route most days to and from work, at this stage that is the only traveling I do with the bike.
Very weird... Uneven wear is due to bike spending more time leaning to one side. Same route every day would negate that as it is reverse. Have you checked the shocks?
Went to tyre place yesterday and found the problem. A very slow punch made the pressure lower and lower combined with me picking up my wife at the bus stop in the afternoons thus increasing the weight on the tyre caused it to wear. Still not sure why a lot more on the one side but the pressure was just one bar on the front. Feel like an idiot should have noticed it earlier. I think that's also why it happened so quickly as I only starting picking my wife up about 3 weeks ago and the punch must have happened roughly same time.
A well you win some you loose some I guess. Just for interest sakes what do you guys feel would be the correct pressure on these bridgestones ?
Manual say 2.5 front and 2.9 bar rear. I check my bike and Jeep tires religiously. Had a similar BAD tire experience (costly as well) due to my own negligence on my Tazz couple of years ago. Set of 4 brand new tires gone in 3 months..... I now have a digital gauge and my own pump and I check my tires at least once every two weeks.
Well lesson definitely learned! Will check it now each time I fill the tank. anyone know of a good tyre fitment centre in cape town area? Will put the BT23 on again as the rear is still fine.
Hello everyone, I need some feedback with regards to some of the tyres that some fitted on their NC's
My 2012 NC700X came standard with Bridgestone Battlax BT023's. I have to say that these tyres served me absolutely perfect. They are still going with another 1mm before hitting the legal limit and has done 15500km's up to date. My one friend recon I might get 20000km's out of them. They don't wear off with flat spot in the middle due to being a double compound tyre, but I also try and maintain them with riding mountain passes as much as I possibly can.
That being said, I'm starting to consider my next set of tyres. Michelin Pilot Road 4's caught my attention. Although being a very expensive tyre, I like what I hear in terms of grip, wet road handling and also durability.
Can those of you that fitted them, please comment on how you found these tyres, because these tyres might just be worth the cost.
Just fitted Michelin Pilot Road 4 to front and back - brilliant tyre, loads of grip through twisties and very good in the wet. Having a harder centre section, I expect better life than I got off my Pirelli Scorpions ( 15,000km on back tyre, badly flat in the centre, front still had about 5,000km left, but I did not want to mix Pirelli with MPR4's ). Plus they look so good . Had fun testing them out on some twisties today.
Worked out about R3,800 (R1,700 front, R2,100 rear) fitted and balanced.
Wife has the Bridgestones fitted as standard on her DCT, and done over 21,000 on them so far, my DCT came with the Metzelers, which i got 22,000 out of. I put the Michelin's on mine and will for sure be fitting them to the wifes when the time comes, they are great in all circumstances, and inspire good confidence, haven't had much rain since fitting, but on the few bit of wet, certainly had nothing to complain about, will see how long they last.
An interesting observation. I changed my Pirelli MT60's after my road trip back to my Metzelers. The profile on the front on the MT60's is 120/70/17. I found the bike handled much better. It lost than slight tendency to dive into a corner. Has anyone else put a higher profile front tyre on? Noticed a difference.
