Hi There I hope to do a solo round the SA Republic tour starting the first week in October 2016. My intended route can be viewed in plotaroute.co./route/273853. At this stage all B&B's accommodation has been arranged. I will be doing about 500km per day. I will fit a Givi B33NMK monokey topbox only. All suggestions and recommendations are .
A top box only sounds like very little space, even with the frunk, but maybe I don't know how to pack. :-) You definitely want to carry some tools, tyre repairers, chain lube, weather protection, etc. I agree with ecorider on something for your seat. The NC seat feels like a rock after three days. I use an airhawk seat. A little expensive but really worth it. Make the best of your ride, stay safe and keep us updated.
Windy areas outside Mooreesberg and both sides of Brandvlei. Rode at about 130km/hr into heavy headwind. Fuel consumption down to 22km/ l . Top case quite heavy
The ride through Kathu to Kiruman is more interesting. The road is good and no wind to frustrate one. Kuruman has the Eye as its main attraction. I met Gary, another solo rider, at a filling station ( how do I upload pic?) who was on his way to Windhoek. I suggested that he overnights in Upington and make a fresh start the next day. I hope he took my advice.
