Must add that the bloody dunlop trailmax lead me to the forum and can honestly say that's the only good thing about the trailmax.
Well, the NC750X is my very first bike, ever. I'm well pleased thank you very much!!
Bought it about 4 months ago from Honda Wing Central in Bloem. Great people and great sevice. All ready have 6000km on the clock and in need of a service and a rear tyre.
That being said, i would love to hear from you all what would be the best choice for high mileage, as i do one long trip a month up to Limpopo.
Adriaan, good choice - I am sure this bike will keep you happy for many years.
I have no idea why Honda keep on selling these bikes with those poor quality tyres. You can have a look at the thread below, and talk to the dealer in Bloem . Dealers in other areas replaced those tyres under warrantee :
pretty sure you won't find an argument here, he he, and it will be one of the best choices, hear of some of these puppies with well over 100k on them and still going strong.
The only thing that broke thats worth mentioning was the water pump on 130k!!!!
The NC is build to last. I dont wanna sound all fanboyish but Honda makes things to last and they make in my opinion the best motors be it car, bike, lawn mower, outboard motors to airplane engines. They over engineer to ensure that it will last providing you look after it.
So enough fanboy for one day, i hope you have pleny of safe KM on your bike!! And if you need info ask away.
Pilot Road 4 for me thank you very much. I am very pleased and will never fit any other type on to my bikes again. The Michelin loves the rain and the harder compound in the center of the tyre - Apparently makes it the best tyre for commuting. I say "apparently", because my tyres are still new and I will know in a few months(or years) just how well they last and will report back. I previously had Michelin Anarchy on my Trans Alp that I fitted about a year before I sold the bike. Saw her again Now in December - 2 Years after selling her and she still had those same tyres on, but could see that they were close to being done. That does mean they lasted for 3 years. (2 years and 11 Months to be exact) I could however not see what mileage she was on, but her current owner used her daily for business.
And, yes, another happy vote for the Pilot Road 4. My only comment would be to look at getting the wider tyre than the standard, as I had the standard fitted on my dads NC and it is about 10mm narrower than the previous tyre with the same dimensions printed on the tyre.
But, a really great tyre. Excellent roadholding in both wet and dry circumstances.
