I bought my 3rd set of rear SBS pads on Friday, paid R290.00 locally.
Like Cronos mentioned before, you need to check SBS pad wear quite often. I got about 6100 kms on my first set of SBS pads, but just more than 5000 kms on the 2nd set...
Kappa Touring Screen, SW Motech Crash Bars, Raptor Desert Fox Spotlights, SW Motech spotlight Mounting Brackets, SW Motech Center Stand, Givi E370 Top Box with Light Kit, Givi Back Rest for Top Box, Dzell Radiator Guard (aluminium), Dzell Side Stand Expansion Plate. Modified BMC Air Filter, Dimple magnetic oil Drain Plug, Seat Saint, Givi V35 Panniers, DIY chain Oiler, “Sit & Fly” type seat cover, Hand Guards, Highway foot Pegs, Adjustable wind deflector.
well i have moved to sbs, fitted both front and rear pads at the same time. my point of view.... not paying somewhere between 1900 and 1200 for a set of front pads alone from Honda. My originals were from when i got the bike, and replaced them at 22,000. as long as the sbs dont kill the discs, and i get reasonable wear out of them.
I have installed my new SBS 700HS pads (front) and am loving them. At only R340 per set from Droomer Cayenne (Bellville), I don't care that my bike is still under warranty - I am NOT paying Honda R1200 per set. Took all of 5 minutes to install.
Hi Sl0m0 this is intriguing since my 750x uses different models. In fact i also found those you listed but at the dealer they didnt fit (the actual width was to wide..) attached is the ones that finally resembled the shape of the ones that came off. 614HF for the rear and 627HS for the front. I dond know how long it takes to drive them in, done about 500km commuting, they seem much harder than the honda ones and therefore take a little longer to stop. Is it specific to these or are there different compound after markets out there??
Well, after using SBS pads for about 12 000 km at the rear disc, I just had a proper look at the disc for the first time.....sorry to say, I think these pads are simply too hard, and WILL cause premature disc replacements...

Like i said earlier in this thread non oem pads tend to wear your discs. So its a tough one either you buy pads at a fraction of the price that honda charges but your disc wont last and you will need to buy new discs or pay the honda pads at a premium and make your discs last longer.
i will be paying the price for the honda pads my bike has just shy of 10k on and my pads still look good. 22k for the oem pads minus bad disc wear vs 6k for the non oem pada plus bad disc wear its a no brainer.
I may also stick with the Honda pads... Front pads lasted about 17k km...rear still going.... Next time I'll try and get them at a better price and fit them myself
And I thought I was hard on the brakes - riding a lot in traffic. Done almost 24k and there is still quite a bit of life left in the frond pads. Rear will easily do more than 30k. Maybe because I use both front and back at the same time?
