The Dunlop Trailmax 609s. Horrible. I received an email from Emily Langley at Honda about three weeks ago asking for my VIN, registration and mileage and since then (despite two emails and an unanswered voicemail) I have had no response. Now at 3895km my rear tire is a memory. I am going to call and ask for a higher up today and barring that, having done due diligence with the dealer, I can then go to the National Consumer Commision.
Let us know how that goes please! lots of guys on here with new NC's that still come with that stupid Dunlop, that haven't been replaced before sale. Which is dumb PR is you ask me.
Remember CPA states that if anything goes wrong ie excessive tyre wear within the "first 6 months" after a deal, you HAVE to be compensated (New Tyres ) . I had my BMW's whole gearbox (auto) rebuilt (would have cost me R35,000) under the CPA .....

No wonder Honda SA were doing backflips and like seals when I complained on their website a second time. I'm still waiting for an actual result but I have been promised urgent and immediate attention. Hmpf. I think my next bike will be a Yamaha.
Just for your info if you have a newish NC, I logged a claim with Honda for the replacement of my rear tire. I have only done 3800k and the tyre is just about on the limit indicators. I have seen similar threads about this elsewhere. According to the technician HondaSA is aware of this and if the tire is worn below 5000k they will replace it. So I will keep you posted on the outcome. Check your tires guys.
It is true. Honda came through. I got free replacement tyres under warranty. I was a little skeptical but they do indeed replace under 5000km. I got a Bridgestone BT15 on the front and a Metzler Z8 on the back. It seemed a bit strange that they supplied two different brands, but the two work really well together. I'm a very happy camper now. A word to the wise. Start your complaint at www.honda.co.za Dealers may have a motivation to rather sell you new tyres and keep things sweet as possible between themselves and Honda.

Hi guys, good news, same as andycan, Honda replaced my tyres yesterday with the same combination of tyres. Having it fitted today.
Good news, then, although yes odd combination, could just be availability of sizes from manufacturers? or what they have lying in warehouse, as those are the two that came out on the bikes originally.
Hi admin, no it's not the same brand, Metzeler Z8 for the rear and Bridgestone Battleaxe BT015 for the front in place of the Dunlop's. I assume as murray says it's most probably what is available, but I googled both tyres and it's rated 4 to 5/5 allround for our bikes. Will let you know how it behaves.
I am pretty certain that the said tyres will perform well under everyday use, unless one rides the public roads like a racetrack, which is not advisable anyway...
Glad that I got the BS front and rear and they are doing well. More glad to hear that Honda SA is coming through with their mistake to use the Dunlops...
I want the tires these guys use. They seem to get some good use out of their tires. (Humor/Sarcasm) Brilliant Hollywood Clip
