When I heard that the NC700 has "half a Jazz" engine, I was immediately sold. I own a Honda Jazz, and even though it may not be an "exciting" vehicle in some people's opinion, it is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. Reliable, economical, practical, and beautiful.
Ever since the NC700 was launched in South Africa (around 2012?) I've been drooling over these bikes. Now that my son is going to university and needs a vehicle, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to give him my Jazz and get a NC for myself. I am currently shopping for a secondhand NC700.
I need a practical, everyday vehicle. And that is why my heart is set on the Integra (NC700D). The motorcycle version is much prettier in my opinion, but I need something to replace a car, and the Integra with travel cases seems to fit the bill best.
I would love to hear from everybody. And I am looking forward to making a meaningful contribution on this forum.
Hi Gielie, Also look at the DCT, I was keen on an Integra, but after careful consideration opted for the NC750DCT, kitted with all the really nice bits allows you do do sooo much more with them, and wont cost a bomb to replace parts if you drop it . I love my bikes to bits. Good luck, and safe travels with whatever bike you end up choosing.

Gielie. Let me put it this way - I have no experience with Integras, but I think an Integra might suit your needs quite well..
I often ride my '700x in rainy conditions, and to my experience the "jewels area" between the legs gets quite wet during rides when it starts . To my experience the luggage box at the '700's serve as a perfect guide to direct water towards the seat. This might sound silly, but while you are looking for something to replace a car, I think this info might be important to you. Your legs and shoes will obviously not get as wet or cold during rainy conditions - should you go the Integra route.
Anyway, whatever your choice might be, just go for it !

You make sense. I have however found a nice deal on a 2013 NC700D Integra Traveller which works out to about the same price as a bare bones NC700DCT (R65k with 15000km on the clock).
I am also tempted to buy the motorcycle version, but I am constantly reminded to buy a bike for what I will be using it 90% of the time. And that is commuting in all weather conditions.
I am a nervous buyer and have been done in with a previous purchase many years ago. What must I look out for? The bike was bought as a demo and has been serviced annually by the owner. There seems to be nothing wrong with it and it is well looked after. Is there a place that does multi-point checks on bikes, like Dekra does with cars?
Gielie, with that kind of mileage there cant be much wrong, in my opinion as long as the bike hasn't been dropped, pranged, or pulled through the wringer you should be fine, go with your gutt, an Integra for that price is good they usually cost a bit more. I bought my NC to tour with, I'm not an adventure rider so the extra money for an Africa twin made no sense, that said If I fit dual purpose tyres to the bike I can do the odd sand road which is probably the most extreme it will ever do. I used the extra cash and added a lot of extra's and still have change. lastly if it doesn't bang and clang when you ride it, well then you're ok I would service the bike when I get it to give myself peace of mind, and then you should be good to go.I don't have the wealth of experience like some of the chaps on the forum, and if you ever get stuck or have a question there are a few very bright blokes on the forum.

I agree with CliveDCT. To decide on the bike, in my opinion, check the condition of the tyres, chain, sprockets, brake pads, any play on the wheels & forks, engine run smooth, no smoke, oil does not look white, then probably all systems go. With probably any NC, if it looks good is will be good. It is Honda after all

Thanks for all the advice. The seller took it to Dekra and they did a 101 point check. I offered to pay the bill since it was for my peace of mind. Seems the bike is in very good condition. Chain needs tensioning and rear brake pads will need replacement soon. Its next service is due in a month, so I will sort the pads out then.
