I stopped at Honda Central, Bloem, today. And saw the new NC. Okay, their price was "reasonable". R92900 on special. Apparently the new selling price is R99000 & R109000 respectively.
But is it worth the money? I personally don't think so. No new LED Headlight, only LED Taillight. The cosmetics really don't look that much different o my existing NC.
And the exhaust..... Well, it looks cheap (and very "fake") to me. It looks nice from a distance, but that's about it.
Haven't seen it yet, but there is no chance that I would ever spend that kind of money on a naked NC.
Should it come fully kitted (proper touring windscreen, panniers, top box, crash bars, center stand, better seat for touring, and spotlights) at that price, + more affordable service costs and parts by Honda...........well, maybe I would consider....maybe..
The thing is, if the NC is going up that much, how much are the other bikes going to increase? I can tell you, 6 months from now it is going to be the bargain out there again. All tha other manufacturers are going to do the same with their new stock. So the question is: what else can you buy?
I see the BMs shooting up to well over the 200K. We will get used to it; since December '15 our rand is a truly African currency and most imported goods are going to be more expensive.
Bm's have been over 200 for the last 4 years. GS Adventure has been over 200k for a while now. 109k for the new NC! looks like my price for my NC750XD at 82k was a good investment. And I have no need for any other bike at this stage the NC does everything and more.
Also went and popped in to have a look on saturday. But with no sales person at hand, went back yesterday to get clarification on some of the missing bit and pieces. The LED headlight will not be joining the bike for the foreseeable future, it has been removed from the Honda training manuals. The upgraded front suspension, also missing, but included in the manual. In both instances, no answer can be given and was not provided by Honda SA. The audacity of the price, with the what are now scant upgrades (leaving off two of the biggest). I feel Honda SA has missed the mark by a mile. I understand that with the full imported nature of the bike, and the ROE being what it is, the Honda international and Honda SA are not doing right by the original concept of the bike. I have the 700XD, i got on the merry go round 6 months before the 750 was due, i am glad i missed it, they had already removed the combined ABS option, and now, another 'upgrade' which just seems to be an excuse to up the price. Sorry Honda, but thanks for the original, she's a beaut.
I also want to add, that considering how easily we can access information these days, that the bikes are released in other countries before us, and that we are pretty much fan boys of our bikes... how can they think we will not notice these glaring removals from the new bike. Since i bought mine out the box, the price has gone up by just under 30k for the DCT, and i have yet to put my third licence disc on my bike
Even with all of the above said just watch the bike will do good. Still priced way below any other bike for its size and CC. None of the other brands has anything that can compete with the NC. Honda has a bike that no other brand has a answer too.
