Stick with the stock filter, which can be cleaned at every second service if required. It is designed for the right airflow for the bike to perform properly without sacrificing the fuel consumption, which is the main advantage of this bike, amongst other features, of course.
Racing filter needs to be complimented with header, exhaust, injector and ECU upgrade to be effective. I am sure performance will improve, eventually, when all the money is spent, but also at the cost of higher fuel consumption, which defeats the purpose of this bike...
I've recently had my 2015 NC750DCT 12,000km service done. I was, unpleasantly, surprised when I received a call quoting the service at R3,002 which included a new filer for a little over R1,000.
Reading the above posts I'm even more suspicious - anyone with thoughts on this?
I have been all over the internet for info regarding the best air filters and concluded that the standard paper air filters provide superior filtration, very good airflow and long service intervals with no hassles for intermittent cleaning. Hiflofiltro make superb filters for all types of motorcycles at at least 50% of the OEM filter price. I think they may even be the suppliers of the OEM filters to Honda as they supply to a number of manufacturers. I recently bought an air filter for my NC750X at around R500-00. I live in Pretoria and get mine from Midas in Silverton. Hiflofiltro oil filters are also available. If you don't drive in very dusty conditions, just a cleaning of the air filter should be sufficient, but I suggest replacing the filter every 2nd service anyway. My filter still looked clean enough, but I experienced a bit of power loss on the open road. Replacing the filter with a hiflofiltro filter made quite a difference.
Hi Hannes thanks for the reply, completely misread your previous post. Do you know if all midas branches stock the hiflo filters for our bikes or know where else I could try in the Jhb area?
