Hey everybody, Finally found the perfect bike... Bought it on Tuesday, a white 2014 NC750X DCT. What a pleasure to ride. I've already done just under 800kms, and finding any excuse to ride. I'm still getting used to the idea of an automatic, keep wanting to pull the clutch and looking for the gear shifter. Otherwise all in all, its a great bike...
First thing I wanna do, is to get myself some spotlights (to use during the day) for these idiot cage drivers that don't look where they're going... Can you guys suggest anything? Please lemme know.
and Congrats on the Brilliant choice in bike. It takes about a week or so to get used to the missing leavers, but once you get used to it, there is no going back.
Hi guys, Thanks for the wishes on my new baby. I've had the bike just over a week and done 1000kms on it already, and loving it more and more.
Thanks for the thread on spotlights Murray. As for Extreme Lights, I was originally looking at these, specifically the 3600Lumen. But apparently they've discontinued them.
Seeing as I'm going to get myself some SW-Motech Crash Bars (and later on a Motech Bashplate) from Donavan @ BikeGear, I've decided to get the Raptor LED Spots from him as well.
Has anyone seen or used the Raptor LED spots? My only worry is that these lights don't give a wide beam, but rather a very focused spot, which will help at night on the open road, but not much during the day in town.
Wow, didn't realise they had discontinued them, they're the ones I got.
Just a head's up on the SW crash bars, they tend to not fit easily, and require some farkling, and resizing the the mounting holes on the crash bars themselves. I would recommend Hepco Becker, or the Givi ones, havegot both, Givi on mine, Hepco Becker on the wifes.
Not sure about the Raptors personally, if you want to look further afield for lights...
I was originally looking at these, specifically the 3600Lumen.
Are you planning to go hunting ?!
I fully support attempts to increase visibility, but this is going to far. These things will blind everyone, biker & cager, in front of you. Oncomming and other wise. My spots are 1000Lumen and more than enough.
Thanks for the link Murray. But ADVmonster is from the States. Can we order online from them & do they ship? Has anyone bought from them before?
I heard that the mounting holes on the SW Motech Crashbars don't line up & you need to modify them a bit. Who in SA can supply Givi crashbars? Where did you get yours from?
Hey Goingslowly, I agree with you, the 3600 Lumen LED from Extreme Lights, are way over-kill. But they only had the 2 choices, and I felt that the baby spots are just "not enough". Especially if I want to use them at night on the open road.
Unless you guys can maybe suggest some other lights I can look at? Thanks.
yeah, they from the states, never had too many issues, just depends on if you prepared to do mail or courier.
givisouthafrica.com/en/contact-us or info@southafricabike.com, your local bike shop should be able to get as well. Got them from bikezone on ontdekkers road in roodepoort
