When I picked up my bike from it's 12000 km service the service manager told me about a red NC that was also in for it's 12k service.
Firstly the guy never bothered to take the bike for it's 1000 km service ("he was too busy, engines are bullet proof and 2 year warranty, etc.") He also neglected to clean or wax his chain once in the 12000 km.
Bottom line is he had to replace his chain and sprocket, brakes where shot and he had to replace both front and rear ("I ride it hard"). Cost of his service was over R5000 AND he lost his warranty (no first service done).
Agreed, Paying over R50K for a bike, you need the 2 year warrentee. There after no problem.
On the flip side, the 2 year Warrentee is a bit of a joke, because the things covered under it hardly ever brakes and should it brake the Dealers are quick to say "Sorry not covered" It still is a good idea though to have your bike serviced by them for the first 2 years, just in case that one thing that is covered decides to give in.
My bike only went back to the agents for the first (1000 km) service, and never again. All other services got done by myself.
In my case, fortunately things worked out very well. I bought my bike brand new, and at more than 52 000km on the clock at the moment, I never experienced any problems.
Due to the lack of an official service record, there would obviously be serious implications on book value, should I ever decide to sell my bike. But this actually do not bother me. My intention is to keep my X until it eventually start falling apart. Then I will just buy another X model, and keep my current X in case I need any spare parts.

You won't be getting another bike then the NC is made to last
