Howsit all, I found the forum looking for oil selection advice...gonna give the 10/40 a shot after 16000kms. Just found my level below minimum after 4000kms after the 12k service on the NC700.
I would be very suprised if the bike was actually using oil, or suddenly started using oil. My thoughts are likely the okie filling the oil was not too careful and never put in enough. Dip-stick was ok until the filter filled up and proper circulation was flowing, now it's a bit low. Anyway keep an eye on it and ride safe.
Ja, I think that is a probable reason. .. I topped up with 750ml of Engen garage special 10/40. Will see what comes of that and replace the oil in a 1000 or so.
On a positive note - should you still find that the bike is using oil, just change the oil. If an appy mechanic used some of these very thin "snake oils" during the service, there will still be a lot of snake oil hiding in the oil pan.
