Hi No high pressure washer and nobody besides myself wash the bike. I also check the chain every weekend and adjust if needed. When i commuted in rain I wash the bike (clean water) immediatly to make sure all the mud and sand is gone and cannot cause wear on the o-rings. I asked around and about 27 NC owners replied - they don't have the same problems. I think I just pulled the short straw. If Honda does not replace the brakes I will have to do it myself since this is the only way I will trust my bike enough to go out on the track again. 2 concerns: 1: Most things mentioned is not covered by the Honda warrentee. 2: When i wanted to replace the parts at my own cost Honda did not have any of the spares (dealers and head office). I had to make use of a 3rd to get parts. When the chain, sprockets and seals were replaced Honda called and said they received the seals?? If any NC owner pops a seal or knock a sprocket he will have to wait some time if Honda does not wake up. Very weird if you think that this is one of the top selling bikes. I accept that one can pick up a problem but Honda should at least have some parts available. Not one of the parts in SA - is it a Honda SA problem or a Honda problem in general? Bad planning and after sales service.
Eish, I feel your pain man. I had similar experience and couldn't believe the part shortage either. However, Honda had built up such a reputation for quality and reliability, parts are usually only needed to replace accidental damages. It's a Honda after sale issue which had been discussed worldwide as most dealers ride along the reputation.
Although I prefer genuine parts, when it's time for me chain / sprocket replacement, I will replace with good aftermarket items as an upgrade.
Honda SA replied and arranged that a dealer inspect the bike again and send them a report. Hope this will solve the problem. I am taking it in on Monday - will keep you informed.

Howzit
My fork seal popped and i refused to pay the dealership repair price. They quoted R 1500 to replace. I purchased the seals from Full throttle in pretoria for R210 and got a guy to redo the forks for R 500. The reason these seals dont last is because the fork tubes are exposed.. This is a problem on all nc's. The slightests stone chip or mark can send the seal popping. After my repair i fitted neoprene shock protectors. Its like a wetsuit material. Makes a huge difference
Brakes on the front. Dealer quoted R 1250 ex vat for the pads alone. I got them from Biking accessories in pretoria for no more then R 178 inc vat. Changed them myself, took 15 mins. Im quite hard on the brakes but my problem was the fork oil that dripped on my calliper.
Chain and sprockets. These guys recon that the chain and sprockets need to be properly cleaned and lubed every 1500 km.. Every week in my case. Had a heated arguement over that..
There are more and more parts available from other shops. Hope it all made sence

I bought front and rear aftermarket disc pads ( R200 each ) at a local accessory shop, and according to lists at the back of the pad holders, both sets of pads get used at quite a number of different brands / models of bikes.
I think the lists of bikes at the pad holders might help to find more suitable brake pads at the local market, and I hope to pass more comments in this regard this evening.

Glad to report the brake problem has been resolved. Honda SA sent me to Honda Centurion - they serviced the bike and calipper. We still don't know what caused the problem in the first place but after the calipper service it is sorted. I bought the sprocket, chain and front fork seals from a 3rd since Honda did not have stock at the time and replaced them. I am finally starting to gain some trust in my NC again - whoop whoop!!!!!

Whenever the chain, and sprockets need to be changed on my NCX, I would like to go for an upgrade - any comments about the quality of your new chain an sprockets will be appreciated.
