Cronos, thank you so much for sharing all the valuable information regarding a DCT getting stuck. Most of us are new to the DCT system and the info regarding the Oil Pressure Sensor could come in most handy and save someone a lot of money and time. best, BB
Cronos glad you got your bike back. They changed the oil pressure sensors with my bike and that did not fix it. Whoever bought my bike also got a bike with brand new abs sensors, oil pressure sensors, new solenoids in the dct box and i cant remember the list it was long.
If i may ask what did this whole story cost you in the end cause i know Honda pays for the things they suggest and it's not the problem. Did they charge you for just a oil pressure sensor and labor?
They were Awesome actually.
The gear selector sensor with Labour cost me R8500.00 New Front Sprocket Chain set me back R2200.00 and then After they found the issue and taking into account the amount of time spent looking for the issue and replacing the sensor, all they charged me after all that was R2300.00

It's Only a pleasure. I find it very helpful and necessary for all of us to share issues like these. Slowly we are building up a private record of possible issues and fixes.
The problem is BACK!! 2 months with no issues and then Last week she got stuck in 3rd gear again
I did manage to find a useful tip on Google via The UK NC Group. a Guy there had exactly my issue and also after many trips up and down to Honda, they figured out that it was the Gear shifter Motor. He did Note that before just replacing, Check the Contact points. They sometimes gunk up and can cause issues, so I am doing that tonight. You can also remove the motor for testing, and by giving it power, while holding it, when the motor starts it should have enough torque to want to jump out of your hand. If it does not, the motor is probably stuffed and needs to be replaced.
Careful what you touch, your repair should still be under guarantee, you don't want to void that. Good luck
Hi DaveH,
Yeah I know. They never checked or worked on the motor, so my guarantee should not be effected. Honda will borrow me a second hand shifter motor to test my theory this weekend. That is very nice of them and they are also as stumped as I am with what can be causing this issue. They understand that I cant spend R4000 without knowing if it is the problem or not. If the replacement motor does the trick, then I will order the new one, but if it does not solve the issue, at least I will know if the motor is fine or not. The down side is that if it's not the motor, I must send the bike back to Honda to try and figure out what could be causing this.
It is the Gear shifter Motor, however, it does not need replacing. It needs a decent cleaning
After cleaning off all the Carbon build up, it looks much better
I tested her yesterday and this morning. So far She seems to be better. Did not get stuck in gear yet. Will be testing her the next week and will be back on Friday to come tell you guys if the problem is back or not. For now it is looking very promising
Just curious - how does it get dirty? Is the carbon off the gear change motor itself? or is it road dirt?
Because the Brushes Make contact, over time they wear and that causes the Carbon build up. Also, unlike say your alternator that has vents all around, this motor sits in a closed casing to protect it from water and contaminants. This is not dirt from outside, but dirt caused internally.
See Where I wiped the Carbon with my finger? Just took a cloth and wiped it all down nicely. It comes off very easily.
If you look at the top to the left, you can see some of the Carbon build up on the magnet. That I had to scratch off and then wiped the magnets clean as well.
Day 3 now and I have been putting her through her paces. Midrand, Fourways, Kempton, Krugersdorp and not once did she get stuck or even show any issues what so ever! I will open the motor again on Saturday to see if its still clean or if the carbon is returning fast. My Money is on "it will be clean" still.
Yes it does make me wonder. Even Honda felt the same, so by posting this here, I hope I can help the next rider save on repairs.
Ruin has done R92 000km.
Update: I opened the motor again on Sunday and she remains clean
I will now make it part of my normal service intervals, to open it and just give it a good clean.
Today is the 02nd November 2022, so almost 2 years since I did this clean of the Gear selector motor. I have cleaned it twice in this time and I am happy to let you guys know that this issue has never returned. It worked for me.
